Cannot install beyond selecting the database

I am trying to install v1.5.1 on a new server so that I can migrate a database and settings from another location.

I get as far as entering the database details and then when I try to proceed to save the data I get a page returned (index.php?main_page=database_setup) with an error saying 'This page is not available'.

Has anyone any suggestion as to how I get over this.

NOTE: The database exists and the user has the correct permissions, and according to the install page all the directories etc exist and are set as required.

Reupload the files ensuring to use a quality ftp program.

I have done this twice - but will try again.

Just tried again - same result.

This time -
I deleted the directory on the server and then recreated it.
Downloaded the V.5.1 zip from ZC website.
Uploaded it to the server and decompressed it.
Ran the install.

No joy - still errors on saving the database details.

Have you created the database? This needs to be done before running the zencart install script.

Yup - database created and set with correct permissions before trying to install.

I have just managed to install V1.5.4 with no apparent problem.

Could it be that older versions V1.5.1 won't install on a server running PHP 5.5????

From that document:
Zen Cart v1.5.1 is compatible with PHP 5.2.14 thru PHP 5.3.x. Requires some patches to work with PHP 5.4, and upgrading is a better idea.

Since my last post I had actually noticed that the new host has a facility to specify which version of PHP I should use on my account.

I set it to 5.2 and the install went smoothly - apart from some images which seem to have gone missing.

I'm glad it worked as I had done a lot of mods to the original installation, and I was dreading trying to remember what they all were to re-instate if I had to.

You should still stick with the 1.5.4. Many improvements in security and "you can't run on crutches."
