    Default Configure.php Permissions

I understand that both configure.php files should be set as read-only for security. I checked the Zen Cart installed by my web hosting just to make sure the correct permissions are set. The permissions for the configure.php file at /admin/includes is set as 600 while the other one at /includes is set as 444. I'm not sure what 600 stands for and whether I should change it to 444. But if the permissions are not right, is it that there will be a warning message at the top of my admin home (the yellow bar)? I don't see any warning about my configure.php files there. There is just a message saying my site is currently set to Down for Maintenance. Does that imply the permissions of both my configure.php files have been set correctly and I don't need to make any changes to them?
