Large image problem with Chrome (LRG)

I suddenly have a problem with Chrome not showing large images properly (image_LRG); it works OK in ie. This always worked OK in the last 2 years.

The problem is the pop up window that shows up is smaller than the "small" image, I can click on each window to make it bigger but I doubt customers will do this.

So far as I know the only place you can configure this is in jscript_main.php and this file has not been changed for 2 years (since April 2013).

I am using ZC 1.5.1 with the classic green template.

Anybody can suggest anywhere else I could configure this?

Loaded current Chrome and saw this issue but also see it in Firefox

I installed zencart 2 years ago and never upgraded since

Thinking about it I have been trying to make my site more mobile friendly and for images added in css "max-width=100%" (around line 19?).

Could be I screwed up?

I removed the statement for images in css "max-width=100%" (around line 19?) but it did not fix the problem; as mentioned,it all works fine in ie .

I think I am wrong. the problem is the statement for images in css "max-width=100%" (around line 19?).
The reason ie works is when I do an "inspect element* I see ie ignores the "max-width=100%" statement.

I cannot test with chrome because although I clear the cache with "clear browsing data" the "max-width=100%" statement does not show up when I do an "inspect element*
