    Default /store/pub/.htaccess Options +FollowSymLinks VERSUS Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch

I am upgrading from v1.5.0 to v1.5.4 so I have been documenting changes in my live v1.5.0 store that I need to carry forward to the v1.5.4 store.
I notice the .htaccess file in my live v1.5.0 /store/pub/ directory had been modified:

    ORIGINAL v1.5.0 CODE:
    ## the following line is needed to allow Download-By-Redirect to work
    Options +FollowSymLinks

    LIVE STORE v1.5.0 CODE:
    ## the following line is needed to allow Download-By-Redirect to work
    # For security reasons, Option followsymlinks cannot be overridden.
    # Options +FollowSymLinks
    Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch

I don't recall why or even if I made this change nor what effect it has.
Any help explaining what this does and if you think I should be carrying it forward to my v1.5.4 would be greatly appreciated.

    Live Store:
    Zen Cart v1.5.0
    No plugins
Zen Cart installed via FTP and run zc_install
    PHP Version: 5.2.17 (Zend: 2.2.0)
    MySQL 5.5.42-37.1-log

    Quote from github
If your web host doesn't allow the FollowSymlinks option, comment it out and use `Options +SymLinksOfOwnerMatch`
So it might be that your host does not allow the FollowSymlinks option...and why you made the alteration
    Just guessing of course
