Default out of stock products not being removed from the cart.

I had not noticed this until this week and have since tested this out on a default cart. If the settings Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to is 0 and allow checkout is false, the product is supposed to deactivate and disappear.

In 1.5.4, it does not deactivate. I had a customer telling me that her products were turning back on and now I see that she is actually correct in some ways. You can no longer deactivate products by letting the quantity zero out.

I didn't see anything about this on the forum. Forgive me if I missed it.

I cannot reproduce this issue ...

Could you post all of your settings for Configuration ... Stock ...

Is this a clean v154 or is this an upgrade?

four carts, 2 working sites that have been upgraded, one default upgraded from 1.5.3 and one default installation of 1.5.4. The image of settings is from the last one. That allows them to add to cart and then shows out of stock. Change the button to out of stock and that's what you get. The product does not deactivate.

Have you an URL to this Product that will not set to out of stock so perhaps we could just peek at it?

So when the product was made available for us was the available quantity already zero or was it one or greater and the product has already been "purchased" by a different helper?

Generally speaking the deactivation of a product occurs during checkout/purchase for a default ZC when the quantity goes to zero if that setting is specified. It does not happen while "adding to the cart" unless additional coding is added to effectively reserve items added to the cart to prevent others from purchasing them at the same time.

It's a weird one, clicking the add-to-cart button with any quantity (1-45) yields a "your cart is empty" cart with no message.

On some sites I see a message saying the quantity has been adjusted. That one I don't. My client says she sees nothing on her site when I do see the quantity message. So yes, this is weird.

So the lack of error message I think was covered in a different thread, I'll have to look it up, but ajeh had pointed out a potential correction for that.

As to this one, it appears that the product went out-of-stock while the setting to modify out-of-stock product to disabled was set to leave the stock activated. I say this because I just tried purchasing all of the keyboard hardware from a 1.5.4 ZC cart withthe settings as above, and I now have no keyboard hardware listed for shopping.

To be clear, changing that setting does not activate a script to make the product in the store appear as set by those settings... This is why I asked the product quantity prior to posting that link for others to "inspect/test".

A product set at zero quantity (or less) and activated will not get processed to be inactive until a purchase of the product is made which in the above conditions is not possible. To say, ahah exactly that is what is to be prevented, well, the condition above (zero quantity initially and product active) is something done by the admin not by the actions of the store.

Also appears that the show sold out image in place of add-to-cart is not set to display sold out...

At this stage I would say that if the desire is to run the store this way forward that product is now to deactivate upon reaching zero, I would suggest running the sql to do that for all products with remaining quantity <= 0.
