    Default Offering book as premium

I have two basic stores that I'm working on, one for me, and one for a friend.

My friend wants to offer an autographed book as a premium for her consulting services. I'd like to add that book to the store, but I don't want to offer it for sale in the store (mainly to track inventory and other analytics).

Is this possible? I haven't been able to find anything remotely similar in the searches I've done, either in the forum or on Google.

    Her site is: https://store.jenuinehealing.com/

    Thanks!

Can't say that I fully understand the expected flow.

You want a product in the database.
    The product is not purchased.
    The product inventory is "maintained".

Is it to be "viewable"? (Ie, show up somewhere on the site?)
How is it "provided"? Purchase of a certain amount or what is the qualifier to receive the product?
This tracking that you speak of (analytics), what aspect(s) are to be analyzed if it is not for sale?

If it is purely an item for internal control, then add it as a product, disable it and manually keep up with the inventory.

If it is just for tracking purposed and is given with a particular service, couldn't you just track it with the service. Or do you have another reason for wanting to show the book? Or did I totally get it wrong and you want the book to appear on your site?

    Thanks for the responses!

The only place I would have it show up is in the "Sale", or whatever we do to promote the special.

It is only to be a premium (or a bonus, if you prefer), not a purchasable item.

Another reason to have it show as a separate item is for shipping. We don't usually collect shipping addresses since products are virtual. Having the premium as a separate item should (if I understand things correctly) allow me to use the shipping module and automate shipping charges and address collection.

Did you check through SWGUY's modules. He has a lot that work with things like "buy one get one free". I bet there is something that you can use to attach your book too directly. Check his plugins first and if you don't see anything I would PM him and ask.
