Default Add This To My Cart Not Proceeding

I have version 1.3.8a and have loved using Zen-Cart for about 7 years now. I am planning on upgrading to 1.5.4, but have a lot of little customizations to update, and won't be able to do so for another month or two. In the meantime, there is an issue with the "add this to my cart" button function. Just a few days ago it stopped taking the customer to the next screen for shipping rates, etc. The page looks like it is processing, but it never goes anywhere. Below is a link to the page. I have read quite a few other threads and have tried a few things from the display quantities command in the Configuratioin>MyStore area, but still not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you-

I would have added this to the following thread, but it is closed-

Sure it seems rude or cruel, but my guess is that the PHP version has been increased to or something above 5.3 and that basically either need to request it to be again downgraded, left alone until the time is available to upgrade during which little to no sales, or begin the upgrade now to get a functional site to incorporate the "bells & whistles" as able... Whatever you do, keep a backup... Otherwise I'd say kind of trying to keep something alive that needs serious work (upgrade/rebuild).

    mc....
Thanks. Was there something specific that made you think the PHP version was possible upgrade?

If you can't do the upgrade for another month or two, you should take your site offline. 1.3.8 has a number of well known serious vulnerabilities which could result in your customers having their credit cards stolen, passwords leaked, etc.

There are a number of indicators: between helping others upgrade having similar issues, the fact that soon only PHP 5.6 will be the only supported version, that ZC 1.3.8 operation requirements do not include later versions of PHP, and well basically experience...

But yes, there are a serious number of issues reported about version 1.3.8, some are patched by host setup, but others are unfortunately inherent in the code but have been corrected by all of the work done by the team (with community support) to provide the current version.

Thanks for the rapid responses. So, simply upgrading to 1.5.4 should resolve this, do I understand that correctly?

Based on the information provided thus far yes, that would be the expectation. (Ie. If nothing else was changed on the site by you or others with access to the files then considering the age of the software and known issues, worst case is that you have an updated version that still has the same issue, but at least less issues than before.)

You can use the guidelines at How do I rebuild my site on the new version, instead of upgrading? - Blogs - Zen Cart Support to create your 1.5.4 site.
Because of the "age" differences, you should make sure that your host is running the suggested version of php. No since in going through the update only to find out the host's PHP version is not up to par.

If your hoster doesn't have PHP 5.5 (min version for Zen Cart 1.5.4), find a new hoster. PHP 5.5 isn't even under active support anymore - it's old. 5.6 is the current version.
