Group Pricing Discount and Discount Coupons show on checkout, paypal/eway charge full

Hi,
I have a problem with both discount coupons, and group pricing. Both discounts are showing up as total on checkout, but both paypal Website Standards and eway rapid module are taking the full subtotal amount before the discount.

If you re-arrange the sort order various ways does it change it?

I changed the order of Sub-Total and Total, which changes the order on the check out page:




but the result on the paypal payment page always remains the same, without discount:


I haven't changed the order of the other modules. I am not using any tax.

I think I found the culprit. I had changed the order of fields in tpl_checkout_confirmation_default.php
to bring the credit card fields to the top of the page. This must have broken something in submitting the right amount.
Restored the old file from backup, and it's working now... phew
