    red flag Stock level zero

    Hi how can I stop a product from being ordered if the stock level on the individual product goes below 2? So that the stock level doesn't go into minus figures if that product is ordered when the qty stock level is 1, and someone comes along and orders 2 then it stops them from ordering 2.

    Thanks

    What aspect of this is important? Ie. Why isthe quantity of 2 important? Isn't the real issue to prevent a product from going into a back-order status?

    Also, what do you want to happen to the product when it goes out-of-stock, should it remain visible to customers or become disabled/hidden?

    Do you want this scenario to occur for only one product or all product in the store?

    if the customer orders 2 and the qty in stock is 1 then the qty in stock will go to -1 which will mean only 1 product can be sent out or a refund given. The aim is to completely stop it going into minus figures or back order status and possibly display out of stock once the qty reaches 1.

    Curious to see who else posts what before I finish writing, but here goes. :)
    ZC considers a productas out-of-stock when the quantity available is 0. If there is still one quantity of the item, then it is still in stock. Of course we haven't talked about how quantity are ordered, ie. Is it only possible to order two at a time, or is it possible to order only a quantity of one provided the product is in stock?

    To prevent over selling available quantity then the store can be set to not allow the product to go negative by the setting in configuration->Stock->Allow checkout set to false. This also depends on other settings in the same configuration menu such as subtract stock being set to true and check stock level being true.

    As to what should happen when a product goes out-of-stock, there is this:
    Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to
    Show Products when out of stock

    0= set product status to OFF
    1= leave product status ON
    Which is found in the same configuration menu.
