Installing 1.5.4 with php 5.2.17

Hi

I've done a fresh install of version 1.54 and after getting a white admin screen, followed Dr Bytes thread

and changed

2. In the meantime, as a TEMPORARY fix, on line 118 of /admin/includes/classes/class.admin.zcObserverLogEventListener, change:

to:

$levels = self::$levels;

This now leaves me with an admin section with just a green band with no top or bottom menu items
Can anyone advise me the next step?

Or would it be better to install v.1.5.1. which I know works on this server and try to upgrade to 1.5.4?

You're seeing a "partial white page", which implies that there's a file in your /logs folder that contains information about the PHP error. If you post the contents, be aware that your admin-folder name will be included in the file-path associated with any error ... so make sure to obscure that value!

It would be better to use a modern version of PHP. Yes, I realize that creates a chicken/egg challenge.

many thanks everyone - the admin page is now ok - thank goodness for helpful people monitoring this forum!!
hopefully Hostroute will upgrade the php version soon
