    Default Pricing question

Brand new to Zen Cart, so please bear with me.

I am in the process of setting up my website to market silver bullion coins. The pricing of these coins is pegged to the daily bullion price plus a premium. Is there any way to change all of the prices on my site any other way than one at a time? I guess what I'm asking is this, say for instance the spot price of silver goes up 3%. Is there a constant I can change to automatically add 3% to the price of all of the items in my store?

    Thanks,

If you end up needing to manage a little more through a single upload scenario there are tools such as EasyPopulate v4 that can be used to change large numbers of items by various factors at once. But for your situation I would think there might be something a little more straight forward...

The "selling gold" module will give you pointers on how to set up precious metals as "currencies", but you will need to "poll" a currency rates server such as xe.com, using a CRON, at least every few minutes - especially if you are selling silver, which can see price fluctuations of several percentage points in a single day. But you can't just grab the real-time price of currency code "XAG" off xe.com . You need to sign up with xe, and they will charge a fee for this - a few thousand a month... Failure to get real-time pricing - especially on silver will rapidly result in you seeing your ar$3.

See our site at indigopreciousmetals.com ... That site has cost us well into 5 figures. (It's not zencart, but a heavily customised Magento Enterprise platform). Zencart's not up to the challenge, I'm afraid.
