Delay charge on credit card until shipping

I am planning on installing v1.5.4 but need a question answered first. When checking out, will the cc be charged right away or can the charge wait until shipping occurs?

If you are using a gateway for your cc transactions - like authorize.net
Then you can set if capture(payment) is to be default or just authorize
