Checkout confusion - Checkout vs Checkout with PayPal

In the cart is it possible to have the link for the 'checkout' tab to go straight to the same page as the 'checkout with PayPal' tab? maybe with some sort of redirect? I understand in the upcoming ZC version 1.6 that the current confusion in checkout will be sorted out but at present it is too confusing for some shoppers and I am getting far too many ALERT: PayPal Express Checkout Error (10486)‏ This transaction couldn't be completed. Please redirect your customer to PayPal. .... and then having to send explanation emails to the visitor I assume is having the problem who bothered to register - very frustrating.

p.s. have tried then deleted Uminix FEC add-on, had some issues with it

The top of your post says you're using ZC v1.5.1 from 2012.

In 2014 ZC v1.5.4 was released, which added a fix to detect the 10486 error and automatically redirect the customer back to PayPal to choose another funding source.
