Upgrading PHP, zc installation not working

My host upgraded PHP from 5.3.28 to 5.5.9-1ubuntu4.14. After that the zencart 1.5.3 version doesn't work. When trying to enter the shop, I get the installation page ('Hello. Thank you for loading Zen Cart, etc '). If I try to run zc_install/index.php I get 'Not Found. The requested URL /nettbutikk153/zc_install/index.php was not found on this server.' Get the same page when trying to log into admin. The whole 1.5.3 installation is on the server. Also zc_install/index.php.

Everything else on the server is working all right (wordpress, webtrees, mediawiki, mysql databases). Only zencart stopped working.

Any tips on how to fix it? Or should I start a fresh installation of 1.5.4?

it seems there is an apache configuration issue going on.

i would look at what the host has your base apache configuration and compare that to what is in your includes/configure.php file.

upgrading PHP should not break your site in the manner you describe. it sounds like the configuration has changed which warrants a change in the above file.

Also a llttle confused about the current condition. Does the directory zc_install exist on the server off of the store's base folder? What happens if you remove it like is suggested in the installation instructions?

As mc12345678 indicates, the zc_install directory is normally renamed prior to your site going live so it's not surprising that /zc_install/index.php isn't found on an up-and-running store.

That's a red-herring, though, as there's text buried in the message you received that indicates what issue was discovered when your store tried to start.
