selling by weight issue ??

Hi

Just a quick question.

I am making a shop where we are selling candy / sweets.

Example, the price of the sweets will be fixed at £1.25 / 100grams.

Lets say that a customer wants 150 grams of sweets can i get then automatically calculate the price ???

you could do it several ways, depending on your restrictions. For example, if you were going to allow a customer to purchase a minimum of 100 grams you could use the following settings:

so your products would have something like this :
Product price: (enter price per unit) .0125
Product QTY minimum: 100
Product QTY maximum:
Product units: 1

These setting would allow the customer to enter a whole unit for grams starting at 100. So the smallest amount they could enter would be 100 and the price would be : 100*.o125=1.25

This would allow the customer to enter 100, 101, 102..... For quantity. So if you wanted to restrict them to only enter in increments of 50, then set units to 50. Now the customer could only enter 100, 150, 200...

You could do this others ways, for example setting the unit=1, product min=1, product price= 1.25
This way, the 1 unit represents 100 grams. It all depends on what you think will be easiest for your customer to understand.

the thing is that its not that straight forward.

Even though I have created a attribute where you can just enter the weight you require. I still have an issue on the site where if you look at the top of the page next to the shopping cart logo. It will display the weight as quantity purchased....

Example.... I want 200 grams of sweets. The figure next to the shopping cart logo will say 200 items not weight.

My site will have items that are sold with attributes and others will not require any attributes at all.

Still not sure what to do ...

Hi,

The site is done in such a way that the customer can see the product and then deciede that he or she wants any quantity that they can. Min Qty will be 100gm.

The product price will be a set price.

So, the customer can order product A at £1.25 / 100 gm etc....

Yes, a link would help. What if you made an attribute to track what type of item it is, I.e. By grams or by each. Then you could add a line of code to display "grams" or " items" or whatever you want. You are just changing the display then.

I see you set units = 100 for your test product. It defaults to 100, which would be 100x100 grams. Is this what you want? If you set units to 1, min = 100, unit = 50, then they could purchase 100, 150, 200 250 up to what ever you want for your max.

If you set units to 1, min=100, unit=1, then they could purchase 100, 101, 102, 103, 104.......
