Coupon functionality problems

I don't have any hair left to pull. Coupon code functionality is different today than 2 weeks ago.
The only files documented with a change are the USPS shipping files and an edit to a custom shipping method.

I am lost as to where to look. No longer receiving a RED error message when attempting to apply a coupon to a product for which the coupon does not apply. Instead, receiving a YELLOW error message that you must spend more than $0.
Reactivated an expired couponcode that functioned as expected 2 weeks ago. Still functions and yields RED error.
Use the COPY button to duplicate that couponcode setup. Change the coupon code. YELLOW error instead of RED without changing cart contents.

Please point me somewhere to look......

Attempt to use the coupon code on a different product. YELLOW warning that you must spend over $0 to redeem this coupon.
Expectation is the RED warning.

Change coupon amount from 10% to $0.01
Same YELLOW error

Duplicate first coupon listed above
Enter different coupon code.
Test
YELLOW error instead of RED

No known changes except USPS shipping and edits to a custom shipping mod

Did the coupon work on your test site or your live site 2 weeks ago, or both?

I am using this on the live site.
The couponcode worked 2 weeks ago as expected and presented the RED warning. That couponcode will work as expected today if I edit the end date so that it is not expired.
The coupon generated today using the COPY button, different couponcode, all other restrictions as Copied. YELLOW warning.

NOPE. I used phpMyAdmin to repair tables. I thought that fixed things, but my hopes were short lived.

though there were 2 tables that could not be repaired.

Yes, that edit had a positive effect on the coupon created today. Doesn't explain why the one a couple weeks ago worked fine and an exact copy of it didn't work today, but in the end, I guess it doesn't really matter.

Well, it does matter ... I am just wondering if a couple weeks ago you added that change to your Live site and forgot to add it to your Test site or something ...

It the code on the Live site and the code on the Test site identical?

All this was done on the live site today while prepping for a short sale this week. Test site not involved.

I don't see how this would affect things, but the live site got fouled up by a database restore that should have gone to a test database on the same server but due to a checkbox that was checked (as indicated by a zc tutorial) should not be checked because it will cause... The restore to overwrite the live database with a copy 36 hours old and was not caught for another 24 hours.
