Default Is it possible to Keep select products out of the product search?

    Hello,
I manage a website that ships from a few locations across the country. I few items are only available at select locations. So We'd like to have select few products that can't be searched only available in geo-location categories For Example East Coast Category and West Coast Category. These items are too big to ship and would have to be picked up. So we don't want a customer ordering something that he found through our search that he cannot pick up in his area. Is it possible to keep a product from showing up in the search, perhaps with a module?
    Thank you.

This is usually controlled by the shipping aspect... In order to know where the product is going, the individual needs to be logged in. This happens as part of the checkout process or if visitors must be logged in to see the store for example...

Part of the reason to know "where" the product is going instead of where the purchaser lives is that the item could be purchased by someone at one location to be provided to someone at another...
