    Default ALERT: PayPal Express Checkout Error (13122)

    Hi:

    A customer shopping at our US based store http://bookstore.arunachala.org got the PayPal Express Checkout Error (13122). I read the forum and followed DrByte's suggestion to turn on the Paypal debug log. I am enclosing the file as an attachment. Please let us know why one out of many customers gets this obscure error and if there is a fix for this.

    First, thank you for posting the logfile, because that gives the critical information needed to help steer you in the right direction.

    Your log contains both the error message and the explanation:

        [L_SHORTMESSAGE0] => Transaction refused
        [L_LONGMESSAGE0] => This transaction cannot be completed because it violates the PayPal User Agreement.
        [L_SEVERITYCODE0] => Error
    You'll need to contact PayPal to have them explain what part of their User Agreement is in question. You can reach them at: www.paypal.com/mts
    Give them the same log file since they will need those details to investigate correctly.

    Although there are many possible causes of this error, it appears that they aren't all related to the store side of things, there are also many(?) customer related issues that could also trigger this rather generic error message.

    Although of little help, if it is only some customers with the problem there isn't anything you can do (other than have them report the issue to PayPal).
    However, if you are getting this error with all customers, then the problem is something that you will need to investigate further.

    G'day,

    On Thursday we got one of these alert messages. Emailed PayPal for help and still waiting for an answer. Called PayPal on Friday morning and got fobbed off with them saying it's a problem with the user, nothing to do with us.

    Then Friday afternoon another one came through. Different user. Tried to call PayPal again, but it was too late in the day.

    We received more of them during the day on Saturday, and overnight into Sunday.

    Something must have changed because we've NEVER had one of these errors previously.

    Seems I'll have to wait ontil Monday morning to pursue it futher with PayPal though.

    PayPal are now saying that their compliance team recently placed blocks on payment transactions to and/or from 'Cuba'. PayPal support think the word 'Scuba' in transactions from us might sometimes trigger the blocking process. Go figure!

    Ah, RodG, you're always the fount of knowledge (and your posts tend to give me a smile). You've also shown that the zen-cart.com filters aren't over-achieving.

    Perhaps not this time. I've actually had a lot of personal experience with the Scunthorpe Problem. My surname is "Gasson", which contains the word "######" (fitting, I know, but please keep your chuckles to a minimum) :-)

    The zen forum software was censoring that for a while. I guess I'm about to find out if it still does.
