How to hide a product from search engines ?

Hi guys

I am using the hidden product addon which works great on the website itself ... but it is still possible to google the website url + the name of the hidden product and then find the hidden product on top of the google list. (like if I enter mywebsite.url ironman shoes, even if Iron man shoes is a hidden product, google will list it and give its direct url).

Is there a way to also hide specific product from search engines ?

Yes. Simply adding the URL for the product into the 'no index' of the .htaccess file will prevent *most* search engines from indexing them. However, if the product has already been index (as in your case) it could take quite some time for the SE's to un-index them.

Another option would be to add the 'noindex' tag into the product page(s) themselves - In fact I would have thought that this functionality would already be part of the hidden products module - otherwise it somewhat defeats the purpose of the module in the 1st place.

I've not used this particular module so I can't say what it does/doesn't do. It may be that you installed this module AFTER the SE's had already indexed the page(s).
