How do I change my domain name without losing my template and all plugins?

Hi:

I have a dilemna. I have decided that I really don't want to market what I am selling because of the many difficulties that I have run into so I am changing my marketing strategy and therefore domain names. Now my situation is, how do I make these changes without losing my template and all of my plugins or addons? I would really rather not do another fresh start all over again. I know there has to be an answer to this. I just don't know what it is.

Are you going to re-use the same hosting account? Are you keeping the existing domain name?

You first need to establish hosting for this other domain name
Then for the most part follow the guide for moving to another host

It should be all there is to it, but check with your host.

On your host, you have a number of directories with all of the sites that you have hosted (in your case it sounds like one). The nameserver points to the right directory for that domain. So inkt.co.nz points to c:\userpat\inktserver, patsbargains.co.nz points to c:\userpat\patsbargains and so on (reality is slightly more complex, but not much).

You host *should* just set you up a new directory c:\usersilverhd\newdomain & then you can copy everything over to it. But it is possible that they will delete c:\usersilverhd\olddomain first.

If you have maintained all of your files and your database then yes after required adjustments to your configure.php files, that is all that will be required
