admin page suddenly not formatting, no colors

All of the sudden the admin log in screen and the admin page itself have no colors and no formatting.

I have version 1.5.5a

it is like it isn't loading the css or something related to making it format the page.

Nevermind.

I got it working again.

The admin/includes folder permission had been changed to 700 when I installed export e-mail plugin exporter this morning. But then it worked fine all day. It wasn't until I tried to log in from a fresh browser tab the problem appeared.

I came across this recently, though there are multiple potential reasons for the issue. Couldn't pin down to an exact version related issue, but found that there were hosting errors being caused by the newer .htaccess rules including (?i) at the beginning of the regex script. This prevented the directory(ies) from being read and therefore things like images and even entire directories just weren't accessible.

Still not sure of the added security risk of removing those four characters or what is expected to be in place to allow them to work, but the system on which it was discovered seems to be a bit behind the times anyways so not too much of a surprise.

Anyways, other causes relate to path directories in the setup files, an extra or missing / , an upload that didn't complete when modifying something in particular css related.
