Default GoDaddy (60) SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

I recently had my website down while I moved into a new house and just turned it back on a few days ago. Now no one can check out using PayPal express. Godaddy (hosting and SSL issuer) says nothing is wrong with the SSL, verisign G5 or the SHA-256. PayPal says it's Godaddy's fault. Has anyone else run into this issue lately and how did you fix it?

    Getting error:
An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor. Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. () - (60) SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

    MANY MANY THANKS!!!!!

That's always a hosting company server misconfiguration problem.

That's what I said, but GoDaddy is insisting it's not them.

Grab the latest curltester.php script from v155 and replace the one in your /extras folder with it. Then point your browser to your_site.com/extras/curltester.php and see what it reports.
If it shows the same error, then point your GoDaddy tech person to it and tell them to explain to you why a simple CURL call is failing with errors about the server's TLS not being usable.

Oh ... and with GoDaddy you always need to escalate to a senior tech. The folks who first answer the phone are trained to give you quick answers without them having to really know much, and/or to upsell you to a higher priced package (which you rarely ever need). Reaching a 2nd-level or 3rd-level tech person usually gets solutions with less wasted time and frustration. It's just hard to get past the first-level person.

Thank you Dr. Byte. I'm on 1.5.5 and ran the curltester already. I spent 6 hours yesterday on chat with GoDaddy and sent them the results from the curltester. Didn't get anywhere. Off to bang my head and call godaddy again....
