My site has previously sent out emails to customers without issue, but I noticed a week or so ago that they were not working. I am on v1.5.4. When I update an order instead of emailing the customer I get this error at the top of my browser:
To my knowledge no changes have been made to my site, server or ZenCart files regarding email sending.ERROR: Failed sending email to: "Paul Bianchi" with subject: "Order Update #134" SMTP Error: The following recipients failed: scott@uni_xxx__olar.comSMTP server error: Authentication failed

"Authentication Failed" means the wrong username/password was used when trying to login to the mailbox to send out the message.
Admin->Configuration->Email Options
1. Email Transport: SMTPAUTH
2. SMTP Host: put in the correct mailserver address
3. SMTP User: put in the username of the mailbox
4. SMTP Pwd: put in the mailbox password
5. SMTP Port: usually 465 is good. Use whatever the email service recommends.
