usps first class not working

I have/had an older version of ZC 138.a and was not getting a first class domestic postage rate as of 9-1-2016. After reading here in the forums (hearing all the security issues) I decided to do a clean install of 155 and plan to copy and past the product over as there are not a lot. So I did install it on the same server but a different URL location, and a different data base. I'm using the same USPS account. Both say "Line #12 : * @version $Id: usps.php 2014-03-07 ajeh Version K3 $"

I also have another site with ZC 139 on it from the same hosting company but a different account (site) and there is no problem there. It has a different usps account.

Any ideas where to look? Would my usps account need to be changed?

Are you thinking that the K3 line has something related to the USPS account? That is the version of the software and there was a version released earlier this year that should have been installed to permit continued operation of USPS.

As to the absence of a particular shipping option working , what is the weight of the item(s) involved as some options such as that are disabled by USPS if the weight exceeds the allowable option's shipping weight.

The latest USPS version is 2016-01-17 K8

Also, a new install usually defaults the shipping tare which is 3 pounds added to order weight. As mc12345678 mentioned, that added tare weight could be causing the order weight to exceed the max allowable for First Class.

Check Admin: Configuration: Shipping/Packaging: Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight

Number before the colon is the % weight added.
Number after the colon is the Pounds weight added.

Typically, the USPS has an update on the last weekend of January each year and sometimes one or two midyear. Not updating typically causes some features to misbehave or disappear.

"Shipping/Packaging: Package Tare" fixed it.
These settings have been like this for YEARs and my small weight (s) for 99.99% of my products have always allowed for first class to show up. I tell you, it worked fine before 9-1-2016 so something changed somewhere, like Rixs suggested on a patch :-) This site gives free shipping for purchases over $30.00 and for the most part it does not come into play. However, as you know, New customers often buy small to see what kind of service they get. so it has hurt business. thank you both again!!!!

Ajeh,
I went to post 11 and it looked like the version I have, but re-installed anyway. Just to make sure. I did the whole UN-install and re-install
I have 3 carts
1.3.9h
1.5.1
1.5.5a

And all 3 will not allow first class mail.
I think it started when the new postal rates were updated. Not 100% sure.
Does anyone have an Idea?????
