My v155d stalls on creating database at 99%

If you are going to reinstall the Zen Cart files and since you are on a Linux Server, then I would suggest you delete what is there now and this time, do not change any permissions. The install files stating to change dir. and file permissions does not apply on a Linux Server. You don't even need to create "configure.php" files as Zen Cart will do that for you.

Should also add, that although issue resolved, when dealing with permissions, sometimes instead of 777 they need to be 755 for folders and possibly only as much as 644 for files. Serves as a sort of security protection from yourself, because the host may prohibit interaction with the file(s)/folder(s) that have 777 permissions.
