Please help!

My site now has some weird banner on it FROM Zen-Cart I believe. I've looked all over the EZ cart to disable it with no luck.

" Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/discaddi/public_html/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file (read-only, CHMOD 644 or 444 are typical). You may need to use your webhost control panel/file-manager to change the permissions effectively. Contact your webhost for assistance. See this FAQ"


I contacted my host company and they tried to correct the issue:

I've confirmed that both configure.php files on includes/ and zcadmin/includes folder are set to 444 but it appears your site may have contained some sort of caching. Even after I deleted the session files on the cache/ folder the issue persists.

As the Zen Cart version is also outdated, I recommend contacting their support as I'm unable to find any recent resources to possibly fix this for you.

To answer your question;

around line 299 of /includes/languages/english.php (default install)
define('WARNING_CONFIG_FILE_WRITEABLE', ... ');

put to forward slashes in front of the that line to comment it out.
// define('WARNING_CONFIG_FILE_WRITEABLE', ... ');

You should also verify the 'includes' dir. has permissions of 755.

The error has noting to do with 'EZ'., and this 'banner' cannot be 'disabled'. The write problem needs to be fixed

My biggest concern at the moment is that since it (assumedly) hasn't always been displaying this error, then who changed what to have caused it to suddenly appear?

Apologies for being a little cynical here, but they say they changed *both* files, but the 'code' only demonstrates the change to one of them, and I am going to assume that the one shown here is from your admin folder.


If *both* files are set with these same permissions, then you wouldn't/shouldn't be getting that warning.

This did it for me!!


To override the default behaviour for your unique hosting configuration, simply set up an override for the init_header.php file:

/includes/init_includes/overrides/init_header.php
change line 24 to say 'false':

And you need to change your admin folder name, since you made it public !!
