Admin User Name and Password

I installed Zencart on dreamhost. I have found the admin login page but I dont know what my username and password is..

Do I need to reinstall it?

Welcome to ZC. Technically if had installed it using the ZC install process (instead of possibly a one-click install) the username and password would have been entered by you and temporarily provided by the software. But, never fear, there is also a minor action that can be taken to restore capability and it like many other things can be found in the FAQ area of this site.

Regardless of using Zen Cart install or a one-click install, both require manual input of Admin username & password. If one does not write it down or record it somewhere it is easy to forget. If the link provided by mc12345678 is not helpful then contact your Hoster about the problem and I'm sure they will help you to solve it.

If an auto install was used, there are likely other issues that may arise and need fixing because of packaging the auto-installer. ZC doesn't include an auto-installer. This means that someone had to package the part(s) that they thought were important or unfortunately what parts are not.

So the point of identifying if was an auto-installer relates to the likelihood of coming issues as a result of that instead of on the general architecture of ZC.

Many years ago (in my distant youth) I had a site with "Dreamhost". A better name for them is "Nightmare Host". I found them to be worse than useless.
