Default Database comparison utility like WinMerge is for files

WinMerge is great for identifying changes I made to the files comprising my ZenCart store. However, it's only half the story. It tell me nothing about changes I made to the database (configuration settings, etc).
Is there a database comparison utility that does for databases what WinMerge does for files?

Not sure if it is the best way , but I often make an sap dump of the databases. Save them on my computer and use a comparison tool like winmerge.

just out of curiosity, how do you compare databases in beyond compare? I have the pro version, but do not know that feature. Unless you mean the sql compare, which means you need to export the databases first.

The way you worded that implies that you care about database "contents" (ie: "data"), and you're not referring to the "schema", or "table structure".

To compare "data" presently requires exporting the tables to .sql text files and comparing them using WinMerge or Beyond Compare, etc.

To compare "structure", you can also export "structure only" to .sql text files and compare them, or you can use tools like Navicat or SqlYog, which are mentioned in the http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Useful_Tools article you mentioned.
