Default NDDBC error messages. DB maintenance?

    URL: litstore.coda.org
    Database Host: ***
Server OS: Windows NT NTC37-STL 6.1 build 7601 (Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition Service Pack 1) i586
    Database: MySQL 5.6.34
    Server Date: 06/23/2017 16:15:50
    Database Date: 06/23/2017 16:16:21
    Server Up Time: Disabled/Unavailable
    HTTP Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5
    PHP Version: 5.3.29 (Zend: 2.3.0)
    PHP Memory Limit: 128M
    PHP Safe Mode: Off
    PHP File Uploads: On
    Max Size: 100M
    POST Max Size: 100M
    Database Data Size: 375,842 kB
    Database Index Size: 17,500 kB

I'm getting occasional, NDDBC, "lost connection to database" error messages. These are the top dozen entries on my database. Do any of these line counts and file sizes point to the need to export the table's data and clearing out that table?

Is something else contributing to the lost connection to the database errors?

    What maintenance should be done?

    Code:
    Table Rows Size email_archive 51,230 312.4 MiB orders_status_history 97,160 12.5 MiB orders_products 100,212 12.5 MiB orders 22,107 11.3 MiB sessions 49 10.5 MiB orders_total 89,166 8.4 MiB paypal 22,548 7.3 MiB customers 12,997 2.6 MiB address_book 15,321 1.5 MiB whos_online 33 1.5 MiB admin_activity_log 3,754 549.8 KiB customers_info 12,997 523.4 KiB
    Thanks.

You could "truncate" or "empty" your "sessions" and "db_cache" tables anytime there's nobody on your site (or if there's only spiders on it doing their indexing).

But even the frequent activity in those tables wouldn't trigger a database connection failure.

NDDBC shows up when there's "No Darned Data Base Connection" ... and that's a problem with the server software, not with Zen Cart.

Sounds like your server is beginning to falter and needs some care by your hosting company. Maybe they don't know about the intermittent problems you've been having?
Maybe the server's got a hard drive that's beginning to fail?

You do take regular backups of your complete MySQL database, and your PHP files, right? Best to keep up that practice if the server's on its last legs.

    I noticed:
Your Windows Server 2008 is ... well ... ... today is middle of 2017.
And your Zen Cart 1.5.1 version was published in 2012.

I am guessing that your issues would go away once and forever if you moved to a modern Linux (Apache) server. Then you just need to upgrade your store to the latest ZC version and you are absolutely laughing!

From what was posted I would say the MySQL server is overloaded. Only way to correct that is move to a not so heavily used MySQL server or add lots more RAM to the server.

Do you really need all those archived emails?
    Code:
    email_archive 51,230 312.4 MiB
