Default Where the hell is my html ?

Hey folks, I'm totally in the dark. I modified one of my category pages with some html. Somehow that html disappeared and I'm trying to figure out how to get it back. I have made backups of everything on my computer but I have no idea how I am going to find the html for page id# 3. I've used the developers toolkit, trying to find html in other pages I've modified but the html is nowhere to be found. I'm guessing maybe that data is possibly in my sql file ? I'm not a programmer so this is waaay over my head. Any advice is really appreciated!

A link to the site would be helpful, as would an explanation of what you're calling a 'category page'.

Hey stevesh, the site is cheap sheet music dot com. If you click on education, you'll see my html menu in the center. The page I lost is the Contemporary 50's,60's,70's etc. If you click on it, there is a blank page now. I've had to re-enable the drop-down categories on the left until I can recover (or re-write) the html that was originally there. As I said, I've done every possible search I can for that html in the devolopers tool-kit but it is nowhere to be found. So I have no idea how to extract that html from any of my backup files. Thanks, Mitch

Please take a look at the posting tips when posting. The more of those questions you answer, the better we can assess the problem. You didn't mention mods applied or version but, the moduleMenu div on that page obviously has something to do with the problem. I would guess the mod is not performing some list when only the Contemporary main cat is selected. I'd look at the Better Categories (sp?) mod as the culprit.

When having these type problems, always a good idea to check your code. Using https://validator.w3.org/ shows a lot of problems but they all start here:

<meta name="keywords" content=" - you have HTML code on this line and that is not allowed

Correct that error, recheck your code, correct any errors found. Repeat process till no errors

Everything you enter in the admin is stored in the database except for stuff entered into the tools>define pages editor
So the first step is to get into phpmyadmin from cPanel and browse the categories_description table to see if the content you're looking for exists in the categories_description field for that specific categories_id. If it does then you have some other problem requiring more troubleshooting as to why it does not display. If it isn't there then you will have to see if you can dig it out of a backup and replace it.

It appears that you've been building your own tables of product data in each category, instead of letting Zen Cart do that for you.

    Odd, but fine I guess.

To edit that HTML, you'll need to go back into the Admin->Catalog->Categories/Products screen, and click the green "e" (edit) button next to the Contemporary 60's category.
