Default Upgrading, clea install but same DB

    spbwshop.co.uk
    V1.5.5a

I have an existing site as V1.5.5a with an old template downloaded from Responsive in an earlier ZC version. The template is unwieldy and I would like to use a clean install to 1.5.5e. However, I would like to keep all the items/records etc. from the existing shop.

I set up a new, clean test install with a new DB. Since then I have been chasing my tail trying to upload a copy of the existing DB into the new shop.

I have tried all the suggestions I can find but the DB will not load into the new shop & over-write the new DB. I have renamed the DB header on the backup, backed up in several ways, and when I try to upload it tells me tables already exist. I am sure there is a simple, quick, easy way but none of the suggestions work. I even tried zc_install hoping it would give me a transfer option, but nothing seen (I even uploaded zc_install again to try it).

Is there a simple solution or do I have to start re-entering all the items again? Re-entry may not be so hard, just time consuming, but it is the other items like P&P and such that it wearying.

    Thanks.

    2. Note in the above article that it tells you to look up the DB_PREFIX from /includes/configure.php on your live site, and use the same prefix when setting up the "test" site.

    3. Also, the above article links to http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...atabase-backup which reminds to be sure to have the checkbox for "DROP TABLE" "checked" when using phpMyAdmin to do your database backup.

    Thanks for that.

That was one of the article I read. I did use the DropTable tickbox. I am certain I used the prefix.

However, I will give it a go tomorrow once again when I am fresher.

    Thanks for the response.

    Well spotted.

I had left the DB_PREFIX as it was (default). I changed that and everything was there from the old shop.

I changed the name of the Admin folder to something I would remember (as per ZC instructions) but got an error 500 - Ho Hum! Never mind, I will do another clean install after I have tweaked the colours etc. in CSS and reset the layout to a centred and fixed position - rather than spread right across my large monitor.

    Starting to have fun again.

    Thanks for the support.

Excellent! Then to add to that, there's a "plugin" that helps identify all of the override locations. It's not an actual plugin for the purposes of ZC operation but instead basically a web page that you can open from your local computer.

It is accessible from this other FAQ that shows a simplified view of the override system: https://www.zen-cart.com/content.php...lly-simplified

I thought there was a thread more closely titled to template overrides explained which gave more of a "reasoning" and explanation of the process. Maybe it's still out there and others will add to this thread for others benefit. :)
