Beginning in ZC 1.5.1 the admin folder was just "known" by the software and until it was posted that instead of admin that it was something else, no one should have been able to tell.
    ok, excellent, thank you mc12345678!

yikes. Just renaming it broke the back end of the site. I renamed it back and it still won't come back up. help

I get the message "WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again."

The front end works fine, so it's not that big of a panic mode, because we're not in an ordering period right now. But I definitely need to get the back end working again. It was working perfectly until I renamed the admin folder. Renaming it right back did not resolve it.

When you receive that admin message
    Code:
"WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again."
... look in your store's /logs directory. You'll see a myDEBUG-adm-*.log file that contains the details of the problem. Note that your admin-directory name will be included in that log's information, so be sure to xxx-out that name before posting any .log file contents.

Change the Admin dir. to a new name then clear your Browser cache and try Admin login again. If not sure how to clear Browser cache I do believe it is CMD (command key) + F5.

ok this is what I see in the log files:

    "PHP Fatal error: 0: DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED"

I'm not sure how to correct this.

If you changed the username and/or password for the database, did you update your Admin configure.php file with those changes?

Yes, I followed your directions and it all worked perfectly, front and back end. Then I changed the name of the admin folder, and the back end stopped working. I changed it back immediately, but it still does not work. I changed it again and cleared the browser cache, but still not working.
