Default Old Sites to brand new install on different server

    Hi there:

I just want to double check that I am doing it the simplest and most efficient way.

I have two ancient sites (one on 1.2.7 and the other 1.3.8a) that I am finally getting around to updating.

I plan to install new, latest versions on new servers for these sites and all I want is all the data (especially customer and order data) in the new installs as I plan on completely redesigning from scratch.

Do I just follow the instructions here https://www.zen-cart.com/entry.php?3...d-of-upgrading and just skip steps a and b?

It's been years since I've messed with the guts of these sites so I'm really rusty with ZC. Thanks much.

For building on a new server...

    I wouldn't exactly say "skip" steps a and b.

    The difference is:

You're doing "b" on the new server.

And in step "c" (ie: when it comes time to "go live"), you'll need to completely re-copy the database from the old server to the new server.

And step "d" is basically deleting from the "old" server, instead of deleting the "temporary test site".

Awesome. Thanks so much. By the way, where does one go to hire ZC professionals these days? I see the forum section for that is disabled.
