Default Importing Products from supplier CSV for a new store

I have other sites running Zen Cart and LOVE the software so hats off to all concerned you do a great job.

I am looking to setup a new website for myself for products from just one supplier however there are hundreds of products, they have supplied me with some CSV files and TBH it goes straight over my head however logically thinking I`m assuming that the fields in the database have to match the CSV file and also the other files they have sent me have to have their own section too.

Could anyone advise me where to start or point me in the right direction and preferably in laymans terms please.

Many thanks in advance for any responses.

    Regards

    Mike Smith

Consider looking at the Easy Populate plugin that mc12345678 maintains

    and Apsona.

No doubt the csv will need some manipulation done on the fields and content to make it suitable for import.
I use Pentaho Data Integration Community to do data manipulation
    http://community.pentaho.com/projects/data-integration/
which can also stick it straight into the database too if you are keen to make the whole process automatable (if such a word exists) in one go/as a job/cron.
