Email Template Image Doesn’t Update v157c

Replaced the header.jpg in the email folder; last month.


The original zen image appears in the first HTML email. The new image appears on Reply.

New image exists on the website with full address in the browser.


Where else does the image exist when the image is deleted from the email folder?


Cache emptied, etc.


Also, in the docs, there is no: includes/languages/english/YOURTEMPLATE/email_extras.php


It does not appear in the /email/ of a fresh download of v157c. Is it needed?

Running v157c

That YOURTEMPLATE sub-directory name should be replaced by your current template's name. It's an indication that you should make a template-override of the file and not directly edit the 'core' version of the language file.

To be clear and less like a hazy IPA:

There is no email_extras.php file in the /WhateverYOURTEMPLATE/

Should there be since it is not in the fresh download of ZC v157c?

There's a file named /includes/languages/english/email_extras.php (the core version). If there's not already a YOURTEMPLATE subdirectory, you should create the sub-directory /includes/languages/english/YOURTEMPLATE, copy the core version of email_extras.php into that newly-created subdirectory and make your edits there.

The ZC v157c download is missing files?


The primary concern is the email header image, the secondary concern is the conflict in the: Storeowner Docs - Email - Logos in HTML emails (docs.zen-cart.com/user/email/logo/) vs v157c download.

Store emails work. Shouldn’t need to override anything.

I'd like to bring this back around again...I've been researching this for the past 2 days with no fix (and I'm probably just being a dumbass and missing something). I'm using 1.5.8 and I'm confused as to if it's the "OEM" email program (i.e. outlook, apple, gmail) that is causing the issue or if it's in the zen cart coding. None of my email logos are showing up (but they are showing up if I put the actual url in the address bar). I've tried changing the header.jpg coding in some, in all, in one, in two, etc of the templates. I just can't seem to figure it out. Please help...

The first thing I would try is to check that the image is making its way through to the email. Look at the source code of the email, it should contain something similar to:

  <div class="header">
    <img src="https://yourwebsite/email/header1.png" alt="youraltdescription" title="yourtitle" width="280" height="80" border="0" /> 
  </div>

Hey Simon1066...yes Sir, I do have that code in the email source... and I can view the header logo when I put the address in the Chrome address bar...

In the email, as viewed, there should be a placeholder where the image would be and, apologies if you already know this but, in most email programs images are disabled by default - you have to select something like 'show pictures/show remote content' to view them.

There is a place holder (see photo)...I've tried viewing on both my mac email, online email, sending to a gmail account and a company email and they all just have the place holder...I've verified that the 'show pictures/load remote content' is "off"...still all to no avail...that's why I thought it was something with zen cart and not with the email programs...
