CPU usage during search is high

When I do a search on my Site I noticed the cpu load is high and at times causes random 500 errors

I believe the module causing this issue is dynamic filters plugin which seems to run well on my site with exceptions of random 500 errors caused by high cpu usage.

Does anyone have a recommendation on how to tackle this issue. Is there a piece of code I can remove that is hogging the resources during the search process

500 errors will generate an error message in a log file. by providing that information, it makes it a lot easier to begin problem solving.

if the error happens "randomly" as described, it is probably a server configuration issue, where there are not enough resources to complete the request.

that said, it is entirely possible that the request could be optimized to not use as many resources. but without the log for the error, it makes it very difficult to provide a precise solution.

Carl that the problem there is no record in the server log or php log. The only thing i noticed was when i do a search is when it seems to happen randomly.

you mentioned "possible that the request could be optimized to not use as many resources". Not sure where to begin with that one. I guess if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

if we are talking about a http 500 response code, then your server will log an error. whether you are able to see the error is a different story.... and whether the server is properly configured to store the error would be another factor. are you on a shared host?

can you provide a url? also what version of php and ZC are you running?
