Some order details missing

Hi all

We've just put a new product in our store.

We have sold 100 of them and the order details come through just fine but there have been a couple of orders where the order details are not showing. I found the log of one of the orders. Can anyone see anything that's causing the issue and know how it can be resolved?

I've hastagged out some personal details but I think maybe the surname characters are the issue?

What does the Surname look like in your admin (admin->customers->customers)?

OK. What is the collation of your paypal table? (Go to phpMyAdmin, scroll down to the paypal table, then look to the right). It might say (for example) "latin1_general_ci."

Also: was your cart created at a prior version and then upgraded to Zen Cart 1.5.5?

the problem is definitely with the umlaut (ö).

something is definitely converting it to the \xF6. which looks to be Windows-1252 encoding.

are you hosting on a windows machine? it does not look like it to me.... put perhaps...

its possible that the return from paypal is wrong. if you look at one of the comments, there is a paypal setting that could be wrong. login to your paypal account and go here:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/custo...guage-encoding

select more options and see what the encoding is there. if its set to windows-1252, then that's your problem... you should have it at utf-8.

i'm really not sure that is your problem though.... when i copy your sql statement and try it directly, it works fine in my test database where my paypal table is encoded the same as yours...

little tricky, but hopefully a few things to try.

Good - now what is DB_CHARSET in includes/configure.php and CHARSET in includes/languages/YOUR_TEMPLATE/english.php ?

I'm on linux but in PayPal it was, indeed, showing windows-1252

I've changed to utf-8 and we'll see if that resolves it
