"VAT number" field gone?

Hi there,

I just did a fresh 1.5.5f install since it looked like a better way to go than going through an upgrade from 1.5.1 with a ton of mods (some which are no longer used) and issues arising with PHP (5.6-7.1).
The thing I am struggling with is the "VAT number field" which could be added using the old "VAT-mod for European companies" plugin, however it is for 1.3x I have been looking up and down the web but cannot find a resolution for my problem, maybe I'm jut silly and need new glasses ;)

So my questions is: I need a VAT field underneath the company name field in the admin and need that piece of info to show up -for example- on the customer's invoice, what do I need to do to solve this?

The VAT for European Countries plugin was developed for zc155 and later.
