    Default Essential email addresses ??

    ZC 1.5.4

    Hi,

Probably a silly question but my zencart was originally set up by my ex who I later discovered did a lot of things wrong (nice guy just not zen-savy). I had these things corrected by paying a few members on here. I have been checking my cpanel settings and under my store email addresses there are about 20 for my zencart website - abuse@ errors@ admin@ etc - are these all essential zencart email addresses you need to have??

I know I have webmaster@, my name@ and the sales@ ones but are the others part of zencart that you must keep or can I delete them from cpanel?

    Thanks

You can delete any of these you don't want, but you should keep either admin@ or webmaster@, since these are the emails that Domain Validation process uses during your SSL certificate renewal.

Actually, there are several email addresses that are required or you are more susceptible to being labeled as s p a m. Some of the settings are the responsibility of your host (SPF settings, DKIM, etc.).

Info, sales, support, abuse, postmaster, webmaster will generally get you by the bots. Postmaster is a must, period. There are others controlled or ordered by different RFC regs.

The good news is that, using the forwarder in cpanel will let you send all of that mail to one address.

Thank you - I have kept my ssl one, my own name one and the sale ones and removed the others.

Unfortunately my ex set up the sales@ one back in 2005 so im kinda stuck with it now as customers know it. I know what you mean about spam - about 30 emails a day about seo and get to no 1 on google, and if I ever need an 'ahem' extension I will be contacting a dr about it and not someone online - especially because I am female ;P

Thanks again for the advice - this forum never ceases to help.
