Ah, sorry, my mistake. The language file DOES include the dash: utf-8

well that is good to know! because if that was the problem, i would have thought you would see far more issues! thanks for clarifying that.

pretty confident/hopeful that the setting you changed at paypal was the problem.

not sure when you will next get an order from a customer with an umlaut, but you never know.
