red flag Anybody using CDN with their store?

I have been searching for quiet sometime now however have not come across any plugin which could help us connect Zencart to a CDN without issues.

I did try a few but always managed to break things but gave up and tried to wait for a Zencart friendly CDN.

If anybody has managed to successful integrate a CDN kindly share your experiences and references.

I have seen websites with CDN loading pretty fast in all countries, and our website loads fast only in the country where the server is located.

    Thanks

"Switching to a CDN" was very "in vogue" a couple years ago. It was trendy. It's less necessary in 2018, depending on a number of factors.

Forgetting about CDN, etc for a few moments, what specific business problems are you trying to fix?

Your comment only mentions "fast only in one country". What specifically is "not fast"? Is it images? Is it javascript? is it payment processing? is it "everything"? How do you know for certain which specific part is slow, ie: what have you done to quantify that claim?
While a CDN may help speed up images, it won't speed up database activity. There are lots of factors, but you haven't explained any of the details of what exactly is the component that's slow for you.

    Hi Dr Byte,

We checked using tools.pingdom.com, our homepage loads within 2.38s in San Francisco and takes 6.40s to load in Australia, almost 3 times.

Primarily we want to options which can solve this issue and CDN is what came to our mind, the same images and scripts take 3x more time to load elsewhere.

We are already working on our database/script/server optimization.

I assume some user must be using CDN on Zencart, and wanted to hear about the experiences.

What can we do to reduce this country specific latency ?

    Thanks

At one time we ran one database -> central processing gateway -> two ZC sites in two locations.

There were bottlenecks when users per minute exceeded 200.

Aside from that the system ran like two gears in a simple machine.

This was abandoned when improvements in server hardware and a centralized server location with dedicated com lines was available.

Both solutions were equally as costly in short/long term reports as both would have relative speed benefits however, upgrading the hardware and bandwidth was chosen to remove the need for the extra client side costs involved in ongoing software maintenance.

Every time one gear in the machine upgraded there could be too much space between each gear... then time... money... fix... lost sales.
