I was looking at the logfiles created since installing v1.5.6 in our sandbox server and noticed the zencart filedates are seemingly haphazard dates way into the future.
Is this cause for concern?

I see -- the physical file's timestamp is strange, not the contents of the files.
Very bizarre. I'll look into the release-build process further. The original files from which the zip are built all have a near-identical date/time stamp because they all came from VCS in a fresh checkout before naming/cleaning/zipping.

While I wouldn't base my whole upgrade on dates alone, I fully understand the value of dates on files!

I learned my lesson about upgrading by only using the changed files list. Your "How to upgrade vs new install" doc is the first page of my rulebook.
