Default Help...1.5.5f Data Base to 1.5.6

Okay here is what i have

I have a very simple setup zen cart no add-ons except USPS, and fidelity for 1.5.5f i did a backup of database and keep my images for my product backed up

So i wipe all the zencart stuff upload the new version install it then import the database and move the images to my image folder all has worked til now.....

When i log into the admin side before i import the database i can set website to maint. after import i cant set it or change anything else in that configuration...

What am i messing up i have everything on a test site and same thing even after i upgrade database to 1.5.5 to 1.5.6 still messes up so if someone can fix this let me know if you need the file i can manage that I am not sure where to go from here being kinda new and all

I would not mind starting from scratch if i could just get my products and customers exported and imported i can change all my setting back no big deal

I assume you were making some sort of change, but whatever you expected it to do didn't happen. .... but you didn't tell us what you were trying, nor what you were expecting, nor what actually did happen.

    1. Can you be more specific?

    2. Additionally, in your server's /logs/ directory there is most likely a new myDebug-adm-xxxxxx.log file being created with today's date on it, every time you click to do something that's failing. What's in those files?

In absence of more detail, it looks like after the database was imported, zc_install was not executed to upgrade the database.

Here is the guidance to do an upgrade by "rebuilding" which sounds about like what you are trying to do: http://www.zen-cart.com/entry.php?3-...d-of-upgrading

Well i have been in the past just having the few add-ons i listed in the site i backed up the 1.5.5f database to upgrade to the new 1.5.6 well after installing the new 1.5.6 imported the 1.5.5f database then noticed that i can't place the website in maint. mode says error I am not sure i know what to look for in the logs but can attach them

but after i put the 1.5.5f version on mamp imported the old database i could do everything so i then used the 1.5.6 zc_install and updated the database...seems to work but now that the site is in maint mode i can't get it out LOL wow i have fubard'd things bad i really don't want to enter 1300 patches again

Two tidbits of info. If the store is temporarily in maintenance mode when the backup is made, then when restoring that database, it will still be in maintenance mode. But, and almost more importantly, performing the zc_install process places the store in maintenance mode. Afterall, don't want someone to try to make a purchase while still meddling with the data, right?

I haven't looked at the logs yet, but wanted to address the above first.

Yeah, all those errors are basically from attempting to access the admin's configuration menu while the database was not yet upgraded. There was a change made to the code to support a new menu data field.
