moved to a new server, moved db, but getting a weird error

jumping and saying /shop/zc_install/index.php
it's an old shop, but it's so high in google i don't want to close it down.
change the configure.php (in /includes) to reflect the new db settings. what am i doing wrong?

Something still needs to be tweaked in the includes/configure.php. Carefully recheck every setting in the file. If your admin is working, cross check against admin/includes/configure.php.

admin not working... giving me 500 error...
no matter what i do... even when i try to go directly to the index.php file.. it redirects me to zc_install

Install a fresh copy temporarily - save the configuration files - use those in the relocated store.

1. how can i tell exactly the version i had (i think it was 1.3.9)
2. should i use a new db and then just change the config files?

The file /includes/version.php identifies the associated Zen Cart version. Do not just change the config files; there was some major restructuring (and additional database-related constants added) in the Zen Cart versions after 1.5.4 (and especially 1.5.5).

I assumed from eternity575's they were just moving it and not upgrading.

The way I did it was BACKUP EVERYTHING!!!

I installed the new store. Copied the 2 config files. Then restored the backup and replaced the 2 config files.

This is all under the assumption that you are moving the store and NOT upgrading. Upgrading is a whole different ballgame.
