PHP Warning: substr() expects at least 2 parameters - Salemaker

I received a couple of Admin debug logs with the following:

Request URI: /catalog/ADMIN/salemaker.php?page=1&action=insert, IP address: 67.245.196.78
#1 substr() called at [/usr/home/XXX/public_html/XXX/catalog/ADMIN/salemaker.php:71]
--> PHP Warning: substr() expects at least 2 parameters, 1 given in /usr/home/XXXl/public_html/XXX/catalog/ADMIN/salemaker.php on line 71.

Running ZC 1.5.6a
PHP 7.1.5

I looked through the latest pull requests on GitHub but didn't see anything referencing line 71.

I tested a bit further and it appears that in editing or adding a new sale it's not saving the name of the sale (see first item in screenshot)
