Products with input attributes (not read only) are not in cart

Hi

On our site www.artos.dk (zencart v. 1.5.5a) we have thousands of products with attributes working well, but we are now told that the few products we have where the customer can choose an attribute or input a text are not working.

The customers can choose and input and the shopping cart seems to update but when they go to check out the cart is empty?

Any idea what can cause this?

I've been reading though the (many!) threads about atttributes but cannot find identical problem... I hope some can help me on.

We are using a theme bought through Themeforest called "Alto"

Well, the issue could be centered around most anything that was included/altered to support that template. There could be things altered that would affect one of the default templates even. Would have to try temporarily using one of those templates though to see if that is the issue.

Files involved include but are not limited to:
includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE/attributes.php
includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_modules_attributes.php
includes/classes/shopping_cart.php
includes/classes/order.php
includes/modules/pages/shopping_cart/header_php.php (and other header_php_xxxx.php files in that directory)
If further down the line of checkout:
includes/modules/pages/checkout_xxx

If using observers to "trap" reaching a point in processing: then may find items in includes/classes/observers/
Or there may be additional files loaded in the page load process in includes/autoloaders

There may be javascript or jquery related files that are involved.

Possibly something that is happening is that the attribute identifier is being type cast to an integer causing the text to be dropped as they may have only considered dropdown boxes in their incorporation and caused other attributes to no longer function.
