For some reason our products ids for new created products are large numbers. They were around 600 but now if create any new product using admin or easypop it shows id number larger than 10K. Any idea how to fix it so it shows id number as it used to.

For some reason our products ids for new created products are large numbers. They were around 600 but now if create any new product using admin or easypop it shows id number larger than 10K. Any idea how to fix it so it shows id number as it used to.

It's actually more important to know how the field identifying the next products_id got changed than the final result. The products_id is basically a place holder. To go back to "600"ish, you'd have to delete the new product (assuming that they have not been indexed yet) and any table associations with it, then modify the auto_increment next value to something larger than the latest products_id, then add the product back to take on the new number...

The real question though regarding the numbering is what problem is being caused with the numbering as it is right now?

How to I modify auto increment for product id?
It looks like client somehow enter product id in myphpadmin which lead to large number and now they have over 100 products with large numbers as products ids. Can we leave them as is and modify the auto increment so next added product has id 600ish?
