    Default Frustrations using SmartGit (Windows)

I preferred this to Sourcetree as it seemed to make more sense to me.

But, still, I get in a frustrating bind that indicates I am still using it incorrectly/don't understand something about the process.

So, rather than waste more time detailing the issues, I really need to show what gets me stuck so if someone who knows this software can pm me and we'll work from there....

    thanks
    Steve

PS. I'll write this up when I feel I have wrangled this to the ground.

I have never tried this, but have you tried GitHub Desktop? I like this a lot, pretty straightforward interface and easy to use.

Zen Cart and it's community are the best!!

I used to use GitHub desktop, but moved to gitkraken. This has excellent tutorial videos, and it is very usef intuitive.

Just to clarify the issue I had with SmartGit was that it shows the new commits available (for fast merging) on a remote, "at some point", that could be maybe 20 mins after opening. There is a refesh button that does not refresh in this sense.
So, when there were new commits the previous day, Smartgit did not show them and so human impatience figured there was something wrong/I was not understanding something.
    Otherwise, it's ok.

    moved to gitkraken.
Snap. I got fed up with sitting waiting for SmartGit to notice the remote had updates.

The only thing I find missing in GitKraken comapred to SmartGit is when I delete a branch locally, it does not offer/have any option to also delete the /origin/branch at the same time: I have to do it on Github.

it does, open-clicking the remote->origin section.

So, off-topic, but I wont be posting here again.
I think if I had used GitKraken from the start I would have had a much better Git experience. It seems much more intuitive/logical than either Smartgit or Sourcetree.
