Shipping modules ceasing to function

Whenever customers attempt to purchase items from a website I moderate, they're not getting shipping options. Nothing has changed internally as far as I know and I'm not sure how to fix this. Anyone have an idea?

If anyone wants to create the test, I just added an item to the shopping cart and tried to check out or estimate shipping, and the options aren't properly populating.

What shipping modules do you have enabled? Very, very nice site BTW!

United Parcel Service and United States Postal Service modules are used and enabled, the rest seem to be disabled.

I have this exact same problem. Store has been running flawlessly for years, then sometime in the last couple of weeks I started getting calls from customers saying that there are no shipping options being shown. Tested myself and sure enough, the following is shown:

SHIPPING METHOD
United Parcel Service United Parcel Service
We are unable to obtain a rate quote for UPS shipping.Please contact the store if no other alternative is shown.

United States Postal Service United States Postal Service
We are unable to find a USPS shipping quote suitable for your mailing address and the shipping methods we typically use.If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact us for assistance.(Please check that your Zip Code is entered correctly.)

Also, on the same page the "Checkout with Paypal" button no longer works (meaning, it doesn't show up as a link you can click on) and in the previous pages when you try to use Paypal Express Checkout, it works only until it sends you back to the merchant where you end up on a blank page that says "OK" and nothing else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Two things to check:
- update the USPS and UPS shipping modules so you have the latest code.
- run extras/curltester.php to be sure your site can connect to USPS and UPS.
