Problem defining Breadcrumbs

I'm using v1.5.6b, classic responsive template. The breadcrumb looks kind of goofy, so tried changing it back to what the Admin screen says is the default value ' :: '



When I do, it automatically converts it into this which is quite unexpected



Was actually trying for " > " as a Breadcrumb, just thought I would start with something that was documented as working. What is the workaround for this, entering the value directly into the SQL Table?

Pretty much at this point

Running a sql query through tools->install sql patches is an easy way to go. There has been some work done to address this more on a case-by-case basis, but it looks like a more robust fix will be in ZC 1.5.7 and maybe in 1.5.6 if there is another release of it.

UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = ' :: ' WHERE configuration_key = 'BREAD_CRUMBS_SEPARATOR';

I updated the value directly from the Control Panel to ' > ' (' > ') - worked perfectly.

FWIW, I went through phpMyAdmin, found Bread Crumbs Navigation Separator in the Navigation table and edited the value there. (Zen-Cart v1.5.6c on a Windows XAMPP setup.)
Used  > to get a [non-breaking space]>

This worked for me using the configuration table row 400, but I used:  > 
I'm having a problem with Step 3 of 3 regardless of the separator. No problem with Step 1 or 2 and Step 3 works for FREE download items, but when I enter items with a price, all the html code and tags are exposed like this:

FYI I'm also using version v1.5.6c on a Windows server. Connecting to PayPal ok as my processor. No errors in logs when all the html exposed, but can't execute transaction since no button to complete purchase is available.
